This Eastern Cape Game Reserves video is a short extract of video clips from Addo Elephant National Park, Shamwari (private reserve) and Kragga Kamma Game Reserve. These are all nearby Port Elizabeth, a great base to visit the parks and reserves from. The Eastern Cape of South Africa has several game reserves well worth visiting in the malaria-free area. You can do self-drive game viewing at the public parks, and the private ones can arrange drives with their qualified rangers. There are many more reserves we hope to feature in the near future.
On a sad note, rhino poaching has become a daily occurrence in South Africa. Feeding the high demand from the Asian black market, these animals are being slaughtered for their horns. Some killed despite having their horns removed. The Rhino in this video is from old footage from Kragga Kamma Game Park. Sadly a female was shot by poachers two nights ago at this park, possibly even this rhino, despite only having an inch of the horn left. She was nursing a baby rhino, who is now orphaned.
