Potjies are a South African favourite slow cooked stew in a cast iron pot. The wonderful part of the potjie is it gives you lots of time to connect, catch up with friends and enjoy the conversation while waiting for the meal to cook.
The 3-legged pot is great for putting straight on the coals of your braai or fire-pit. I use this pot out of preference to the legless pot. The 3-legged pot is not great for using on gas stoves, but I prefer the tradition of coals. Choose the right size pot for your needs and future needs, as a potjie pot is a long-term investment. My No. 3 pot is well over 10 years old and still going strong.
