Ilala Palm Park is a caravan park and camping site situated on a generously sized 35-hectare property, located more or less 6 km along Jozini Road, West of Mbazwana – meaning “small axe” in Zulu.

The property consists mainly of grassland and sand forest, making it ideally suited to hundreds of bird species (including ground birds, water fowl and guest appearances by migratory species) with its mild winter climate and close proximity to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Each of the six campsites have their own private ablutions, scullery, 220 V electricity point, braai and hot water wash-up facility. The grassy campsites vary in size and most have sufficient shade. Relax in the swimming pool when the birds have their siesta or just splash off the summer heat.

Ilala Palm Park is in the heart of adventure territory within a close proximity to excellent dive spots (Sodwana) and both freshwater fishing – including tiger fish at Jozini Dam – and salt water fishing – estuary, surf and deep sea at renown locations such as Kosi Bay, St. Lucia Estuary, Cape Vidal and Mapelane. The park is also located close to various wildlife reserves (including ‘Big 5’!).

The park offers you a variety of sites ranging from sunny to full shade. With most sites being grassed and protected against the wind.

All sites have 15amp power points. All roads are tarred. With the owners permission and discretion, dogs (weighing up to 5 Kgs) will be permitted (prior permission to be obtained) only during low season on caravan/tent sites.

The park has a large sheltered freshwater swimming pool and a smaller pool for the kiddies. The following facilities are available: Playpark; Recreational hall; Organised entertainment during December holidays; Tidal Pool (500M) and Table tennis. Enjoy a game of golf, tennis, bowls or squash within a radius of 5km from the park. Our friendly staff will direct you to shopping centres, restaurants. sights worth seeing, etc.

The beach can be reached by crossing a single railway line. Bathers are protected by shark nets and life guards in season, and there are many rock pools for the children and adults to romp and relax in. The old whaling station offers an ideal place for fishing.  Security guards patrol the park at night. We do what we can to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
