Nestled in the heart of the Garden Route amongst some of the world’s finest scenery is the Carmel Coastal Retreat Campsite. Break away to enjoy a time of physical, emotional and spiritual recreation.

Experience the beauty of Carmel’s Camping and Caravan park, while enjoying the magnificent Victoria Bay and Outeniqua mountain views, resting in our quiet spaces and many activities too.

Our campsites are divided into small, medium and large. Whether you are a single camper, couple, family or group, we welcome you to our camping experience. All sites have electricity and braai facilities and are close to the separate ladies and men’s ablutions which are serviced daily.

At Carmel you also get access to all of our facilities and full inclusion in our daily activities and Carmel holiday programs. In addition, should you need a night off from cooking, you are welcome to book into the dining room for a scrumptious Carmel meal at a reasonable price.

Carmel is just outside George, above Victoria Bay, a popular beach, fishing and surf spot in the prestigious Garden Route. Carmel was originally a guest farm and has transitioned over the years to the now Carmel Coastal Retreat. It offers the campsite, bed & breakfast as well as self-catering accommodation on a beautiful rustic estate, ideal for families and groups.

It has well established trees and an abundance of birdlife during the day. The northern part of the campsite borders on pastures for horses, and overlooks the magnificent Outeniqua mountain range.

Carmel is a Christian organisation, and is open to all. It offers a safe place for families and kids to run around, especially during the peak seasons, where they run family programs. The property has a few private trails you can hike or jog, and they host the MyRun on most Sunday mornings.

This gem of the Garden Route is situated in the pristine area of Wilderness, just outside George in South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route. Level grass sites with plenty of trees and open grass spaces. The site is situated on the Ebb and Flow river and has an abundant variety of bird life.

Divided into the North and South camps, we have found the North Camp to be more secluded. Camp right on the river, and watch Knysna Louries hopping around the river’s edge. The 8km Half Collared Kingfisher Trail starts near the Park and runs along the river through the beautiful indigenous forest.
